The National Day of Singapore is usually celebrated every year on 9th August, in commemoration of Singapore’s independence from Malaysia in 1965.
The National Pledge is an oath of allegiance to the Republic of Singapore:
We, the citizens of Singapore, pledge ourselves as one united people, regardless of race, language or religion, to build a democratic society, based on justice and equality, so as to achieve happiness, prosperity and progress for our nation.
